About Mix Artistry
MIXING IS MORE THAN KNOWING YOUR PLUGINS.
Mix Artistry exists to help musicians, producers and emerging mixers become better at the part of mixing that matters most:
Knowing what to listen for.
Knowing what matters.
And knowing what to do next.

BECAUSE THE PROBLEM ISN'T USUALLY A LACK OF INFORMATION.
There are endless tutorials, plugins, presets and mixing tips available now.
The harder part is turning all of that information into better decisions.
That's what I'm interested in.

Daniel
I'M DANIEL.
I didn't start Mix Artistry because the world needed another mixing course.
I started it because I knew how frustrating it was to have all the information and still not know what to do with it.
I studied audio at college and learned the technical foundations. I worked in professional studio environments and had the opportunity to learn from experienced engineers, including Grammy-winning engineer David Nicholas.
I also spent time at Mix With The Masters learning from Jack Joseph Puig.
Those experiences taught me plenty about recording, engineering and mixing.
But they also showed me something that wasn't always obvious from the tutorials and textbooks:
THE BEST MIXERS AREN'T JUST BETTER AT USING TOOLS. THEY'RE BETTER AT MAKING DECISIONS.
They know what they're listening for.
They know what matters.
They know when to leave something alone.
And they have a process they can return to when a mix starts to go wrong.
That became the foundation of Mix Artistry.
In the box
MOST OF MY MIXING HAS HAPPENED IN THE BOX.
And that's important.
I'm not interested in teaching some romanticised version of mixing that requires a huge console, an expensive collection of hardware and a commercial studio.
Modern mixing happens in bedrooms, project studios, spare rooms and professional facilities.
The tools have changed. But the fundamentals haven't.
You still need to hear what's happening.
You still need to understand why it's happening.
And you still need to make decisions that serve the song.
That's what I teach.
Why Mix Artistry Exists
THERE IS NO SHORTAGE OF MIXING INFORMATION.
If anything, there's too much.
You can spend years learning what every EQ band does, collecting compression techniques and watching someone else mix a song — without ever developing a reliable way to approach your own mix.
I wanted to build something different.
- Not another collection of tricks.
- Not a course built around making you dependent on presets.
- And not a system that tells you there is one "correct" way to mix.
A FRAMEWORK FOR THINKING.
Something that helps you understand what you're hearing, diagnose problems, decide what matters and develop your own judgement.
The Philosophy
Hear objectively.
Work systematically.
Mix artistically.
Hear Objectively
Learn to separate what you think you hear from what is actually happening in the mix.
Work Systematically
Build a process that gives you somewhere to go when you're stuck — instead of reaching for another plugin.
Mix Artistically
Technical decisions are only useful when they serve the music.
The goal isn't to make a technically impressive mix.
The goal is to make the song matter.
What I Believe
FIVE THINGS I BELIEVE ABOUT MIXING.
Mixing should be understandable.
You shouldn't need to memorise hundreds of tricks to make a good mix.
Technical knowledge should serve the music.
Tools are there to help you make decisions, not make decisions for you.
Better ears lead to better decisions.
The more objectively you can hear, the more confidently you can act.
A process creates freedom.
Having a repeatable way to work doesn't make your mixes less creative. It gives you more room to be creative.
You don't need to mix like someone else.
The goal isn't to copy another engineer's sound. It's to develop the judgement to make your own decisions intentionally.
From Frustration to Intention
FOR ME, LEARNING TO MIX WASN'T A STRAIGHT LINE.
- There were bad mixes.
- Wrong turns.
- Techniques that worked in one situation and completely failed in another.
- Times when I knew exactly how a compressor worked but still couldn't work out why the mix wasn't moving.
Eventually, the pieces started to connect.
I realised that good mixing wasn't about accumulating more answers.
It was about learning how to ask better questions.

01
What's actually wrong?
02
Does it matter?
03
What's causing it?
04
What can I change?
05
Did that change actually make the song better?
That thinking eventually became the system behind Mix Artistry.
Level Up Pro Mixing System
THAT'S WHY I BUILT LEVEL UP.
Level Up Pro Mixing System is the system I wish I'd had when I was learning to mix.
It takes the technical knowledge, listening skills, workflow and decision-making involved in mixing and puts them into a repeatable process.
Not so you can follow my decisions forever.
So you can eventually make better decisions yourself.
That's the whole point.
Self-Paced
Learn the complete system at your own pace.
Pro
Get the system plus personal feedback and support as you put it into practice.
Self-Paced gives you the knowledge.
Pro helps you turn it into ability.
MIXING IS SUPPOSED TO BE CREATIVE.
You shouldn't finish a mix feeling like you survived a technical exercise.
You should understand what you did, why you did it, and hear how those decisions helped the song.
That's what I'm trying to build with Mix Artistry.
A place where musicians and producers can develop the technical understanding without losing the creative part.
- Where you can learn the tools without becoming obsessed with the tools.
- Where you can develop a process without losing your individuality.
- And where, eventually, you don't need someone else to tell you whether your mix is working.
You can hear it for yourself.
