This utility calculates perfectly synced delay times (in milliseconds) and modulation rates (in hertz) based on a project’s BPM and time signature. Featuring a tap-tempo button, it generates comprehensive, copyable timing values for normal, dotted, and triplet note subdivisions to easily synchronise time-based audio effects.
How to use the delay times for your BPM
A delay set in milliseconds will only sit in time with the song if those milliseconds match its tempo. Enter your BPM above, or tap it in, and the calculator gives the length of every note value in milliseconds, so you can type the number straight into a delay plugin that has no tempo sync option. A quarter note at 120 BPM lasts 500 ms and an eighth note lasts 250 ms, with the dotted and triplet versions listed beside them. The same table gives the matching rate in hertz, which is handy for setting a modulation effect such as a chorus or tremolo so that it moves with the song.
